Disillusion

Disillusion

The day dawns
for everyone
when big changes
in life occur.
Time passes too fast.
The eyes lose their shine,
the skin its elasticity.
The joints become ponderous.
The mind takes detours.
Sleepless nights turn into days.
The days seem a new loss.
The mind becomes
preoccupied with the past.
The future holds little hope.
I ask myself:
What is the meaning of it all?
I had hoped
that the children
would have been a bonus,
but I only see them
very seldom.
My partner has
his own worries.
Maybe we never
understood each other,
just made the best
of a bad game.
Love is
a funny word.
Human reproduction
is managed
under its cloak.
I had hoped
that love
would have given life
a deeper meaning.
So when the long sleep comes
the illusion of life
will be like an oasis.
