ODINS RAVENS

Allfather never roamed alone,
two clever ravens were his own,
attended him and brought him news
from skies above with sweeping views

At dawn they rose with beating wings,
returned at dusk with whisperings
Each evening came their daily brief,
but seldom brought a sweet relief

They told, what in the world was done,
of battles lost and victories won,
of kings who lied, of lands that bled,
of hungry mouths and hopes long dead

Yet more the ravens had to tell:
the earth is changing, not too well
The forests burnt, the oceans high
creatures fall, the species die

"You must arise, you must take heed!
This age demands a godly deed!”
The ravens upset, visibly caught
The god sat silent, lost in thought

At last he spoke, gently agreed:
“From word comes word, from deed comes deed
Attend this day with utmost care
The brave shall stand with heart laid bare
