Norman Möschter

In the distance

In the distance a train is calling
hollowly through the night.
It seems like a distant calling
where there used to be silent night.

Its sounds still linger
though the train is long gone,
thus I stay and I linger
after the lost one.

Thus I sit and I am wondering
at how to break the spell,
the paralysing pondering,
the restlessness as well.

Right at that moment on the street
a car is passing by.
The eyes within and I, we meet,
a blur just - on the fly.

All sounds are gone, nothing more to see
and all of a sudden I don't want to be
still, the calling's bouncing off of me
sounding hollowly through the night.
Where there used to be silent night.
And still I sit and I am wondering,
but now, it feels alright.
